About this painting:

This first 'Luminous London' painting painting reveals continuing development of the 'flow' motif as featured in the Merge abstract. It explores excitory heightening of the senses, memory and artificial lighting.

Based upon romantic memories of a visit to London, its evening sun hovers top left above the Thames, here represented as blue and gold flowing lines - gold being decorated with stylized circles and waves. Lower right is a bend in the river. Beneath is a brown area speckled with circles representing grains of sediment.  As urban as the city is, there is also a very strong earthy feel near the river.

A series of distressed old and shiny new blocks represent buildings along the river bank, including the Oxo Tower, its small red square at the top, super-imposed against the river. Circular forms represents bouncing light from various sources at night.

Victoria Embankment (a companion work originally titled, 'River Lights') also featured a nearby area of the riverbank.
